IPL 2015 Match 39

Mumbai v Delhi

Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard held their nerve in a thrilling run chase as Mumbai Indians claimed a five-wicket victory over the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.

Despite being interrupted by rain in the second innings, Rayudu played the key role late in the game as Mumbai battled to a fourth successive win.

It was the perfect start to the match for Mumbai when Lasith Malinga had Mayank Agarwal caught by Parthiv Patel off the first ball of the innings, and despite scoring at a good rate after the setback, JP Duminy's (28) dismissal in the sixth over left the visitors on 50-3.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, but Yuvraj Singh gave his side a chance with 57 off 44 balls as Delhi reached 152-6 from their 20 overs.

Mumbai made a disappointing start to their reply as Lendl Simmons (0) and Hardik Pandya (5) departed inside the opening two overs, before Angelo Mathews dismissed Patel (13) to reduce the hosts to 29-3.

Rohit Sharma led the recovery with 46, but Mumbai were still 53 runs short of the total when he was bowled by Amit Mishra in the 16th over.

Pollard (26*) came to the crease to join Rayudu (49*), and the two combined well to leave their side needing just eight runs from the final six balls.

A single was followed by Pollard's third six, and the West Indian all-rounder completed the win with three balls remaining as they joined Delhi on eight points.
