3 match ODI Series ENG 2-1 IND

3rd ODI

India 256-8 (50 overs): Kohli 71, Willey 3-40, Rashid 3-49
England 260-2 (44.3 overs): Root 100*, Morgan 88*
England won by eight wickets; win series 2-1

England served notice of their World Cup-winning credentials by crushing India in the third one-day international to take the series 2-1.

The home side eased to their target of 257 with 33 balls and eight wickets to spare - Joe Root hitting the winning runs to complete a second successive century and Eoin Morgan ending on 88 not out.

That India were restricted to a modest 256-8 was down to England's excellence with the ball and in the field.

Shikhar Dhawan made 44 before being run out by Ben Stokes, while Virat Kohli looked ominous for 71 until he was bowled by a lovely Adil Rashid delivery.

With England's limited-overs summer now at an end, the first of five Tests against India begins on Wednesday, 1 August.

2nd ODI

England 322-7 (50 overs): Root 113, Morgan 53, Kuldeep 3-68
India 236 (50 overs): Raina 46, Kohli 45, Plunkett 4-46
England won by 86 runs; series level at 1-1 with one to play

Joe Root's gritty century laid the foundations for England's series-levelling victory over India in the second one-day international at Lord's.

Root made 113 and David Willey's unbeaten 50 from 31 balls gave England the late impetus to reach 322-7.

Though India slipped to 60-3 in reply, the reassuring presence of captain Virat Kohli kept them in the game.

After he was lbw to Moeen Ali for 45, the tourists limped to 236, to lose by 86 runs.

The three-match series is left poised at 1-1 and will be decided at Headingley on Tuesday.
1st ODI

England 268 (49.5 overs): Buttler 53, Stokes 50, Kuldeep 6-25
India 269-2 (40.1 overs): Rohit 137*, Kohli 75
India won by eight wickets; go 1-0 up in series

Kuldeep Yadav claimed the best figures by a spinner in a one-day international in England to set India on the way to a massive win in the series opener.

His 6-25, also the best figures by a left-arm spinner in any ODI, shot England out for 268 at Trent Bridge.

That target was made to look meagre by Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 137 and 75 from India captain Virat Kohli.

They shared 167 as the visitors eased over the line with eight wickets and almost 10 overs to spare.

India, who have already won the Twenty20 series 2-1, can take victory in the three-match series at Lord's on Saturday.
